House Groups

Small groups, of approximately eight in number, meet in member’s homes. A typical format could start with a short piece of music and a prayer. Followed by Bible study and discussion supported by a published commentary. Alternative suitable topics of study are also used. At the end of the session the Grace is said to each other or a suitable closing prayer is used.

The formation of new groups is encouraged.

Bible Study

A Bible study group meets on a Wednesday morning at 10.00am in the Chapel, which is accessed through the side door of the Church.

We normally study a book of the Bible considering its historical and theological setting and its message for today. We are currently studying the Gospel of Luke. Members have a wide range of belief and we respect each other’s view point.

When our Minister is available, he will lead the group. On other occasions the study group is led by individual members. Once a month, if the Minister is available, Holy Communion is held in the Chapel at 10.00am in place of the Bible Study. This is open to all.

At 11.00am all are welcome to join the coffee morning which meets every Wednesday in the Small Hall – this is open to anyone, whether or not they have attended either of the earlier meetings.

Tea & Chat

Meets on the second Monday of the month at 2.30pm in the Small Hall for approximately 1½hrs.

It comes under the umbrella of MW in B, (Methodist Women in Britain). Each meeting we think about a special subject or topic, sometimes having a speaker to guide our thoughts and inspire our spirits.

We always have a ‘Bring and Buy’ table along with a cup of tea and delicious cakes for which we ask 60p.

Our offerings are normally given to MW in B, but sometimes we have a special effort, eg., our yearly cake and plant sale in aid of a worthwhile charity. All visitors will receive a warm welcome at any of our meetings.

Saturday Morning Coffee

Every Saturday morning between 10.30am and midday we hold a ‘coffee morning’ in the Welcome Area at the front of the Church. This is open to everyone including anyone passing by. We enjoy tea, coffee, cakes or biscuits along with fellowship, conversation, fun and an opportunity to get to know each other better in a very relaxed atmosphere. Money raised is donated to Charities such as London Air Ambulance. Everyone is welcome.

Thursday Club

Thursday Club (formerly Young Wives) is an evening meeting for ladies with the primary aim of sharing fellowship and friendship. In 2015 we celebrated our 62nd Anniversary.

We meet weekly in the Small Hall, and our year is split into 3 sessions. It is organised by a Committee, and currently we have around 24 members, most of whom attend on a regular basis. We enjoy speakers on diverse subjects, both religious and secular, and many of our visitors use up-to-date technology for their presentations. We arrange ‘DIY’ evenings with Bring and Buy Sales, Quizzes, Board Games for Charities, Book Reviews, Musical evenings, and similar activities. Each session we have a celebratory meal, Anniversary, Christmas, and Summer either at a local restaurant or on an ‘in-house’ basis. Our evenings close with tea/coffee and biscuits, or sometimes celebratory cakes! All ladies or guests are warmly welcomed.
